BCD ACADEMY – A 4 MONTH INTENSIVE ACADEMIC JOURNEY
Your certification journey will start with a review of human anatomy from both a macro and microscopic perspective as related specifically to pain pathways. Pain must be understood from many disciplines of clinical sciences: neuroscience, pathology, orthopedics, neurology.
Understanding all pain types and their clinical interpretation will also be reviewed in this first module.
UNDERSTANDING THE PATIENT
The psychology of pain will be taught in this module. A review of current evidence-based medicine research on the subject of pain as related to mental health issues will be reviewed. As well, substance abuse and current medicinal mechanisms of action will be covered in this module.
Better Call Doc has developed a unique treatment and patient management method. The Pain Therapy Practitioner must learn 20 different types of therapeutic modalities as well as how some modalities have been modified or clinically designed to improve efficacy and treatment outcomes.
This module is the longest and requires both academic classes and a large practicum session where students practice therapy techniques on each other and with model patients.
PATIENT MANAGEMENT FOR PRACTICE
This module teaches the Therapy Practitioner in training the ins and outs of patient management. The practitioner will learn all of the administrative details in running a clinic, which includes subjects like clinical forms, patient intake forms, accounting software and software patient data as well as other important subjects such as jurisprudence and medical ethics.
This last module covers all of the business aspects in running an independant practice. We will be reviewing your individual practice goals such as combining your new BCD accreditation with your existing credentials, setting up a practice independently in a particular area, arranging for BCD to help you find a clinic position as an associate practitioner. Individual financial details will be evaluated in order to assist with your new practice. Marketing and clinic interior design is also discussed in this module. The marketing plan will involve social medial, local advertising, corporate wellness projects and health care classes.
